Based on the conversation at the InfoSoup brainstorming session, we made a small change to the brief record display. When available in the catalog record, series information will now display in the brief record. To see how that looks, here is a sample search.
Still on our to do list is an I'm looking for... Series page. I had some contact with the Kent District Library and was hopeful that we could acquire access to their series data that they use in their What's Next database. I was just informed this morning that they will not sell us the data, but plan to develop a subscription service sometime in 2008. Before developing an InfoSoup series page we will need to way the benefits of doing something ourselves or waiting to see what there service is like and what it will cost.

I like the short view w/ series info in our catalog. Adding series info it to our existing records will just make it easier to search in the long run.
Unless there is some big benefit to going with a subscription service I don't see why we can't handle it ourselves.
I'm open to contrary opinions.

I was very happy to see the addition of the series listing along with the number in the series. Patrons will be thrilled with this addition. The brief listing provides the basic information that people ask us for.

I like the added series info on brief record. It would be nice if we could use a subscription service for additional series info, as we don't have time to handle it ourselves and there are others already doing it well. I'll be curious to see what Kent District Library will come up with.
I think a series page like our readers pages will be a great addition to InfoSoup!
