Shoutbomb is here!

|
We're putting the final touches on the documentation and will be going live today with Shoutbomb.

Soon there will be a link to the instructions under the My Library section on the main InfoSoup page, titled Sign up for Text Message Notifications.  If you have text savvy patrons, feel free to encourage them to use this new service.

At the moment, most texts will go out between 8 and 9 in the morning, with a second batch of hold pickup notifications at about 4:30 PM.  (The 2nd batch of hold pickup notifications will only include those items that were checked in after the 1st set of notices have gone out.)

As we discussed at the last AAC meeting, we're starting out slowly, which is why the link is not prominently displayed on InfoSoup.  At the next AAC meeting, we'll talk about how the project is going, and what changes we'd like to make, based on feedback from our early adopters.

Millennium is up - OK to log in

|
The Millennium server is up and running, and it's OK to log in.  If your library used offline circulation on Friday, please contact Gerri at the OWLS office about processing the offline circ transactions.

The problem with placing holds on magazines in InfoSoup has now been resolved.  If you do experience any further problems, please contact Gerri at the OWLS office.

Problems placing holds on magazines

|
We're experiencing problems placing holds on magazines.  This may still be related to the server crash last week.  In most cases, it appears that only a fraction of the eligible issues are actually available for holds in InfoSoup.  A call has been opened with Innovative, and we're working with them on finding a solution.

Server issues

|
A number of libraries reported problems this morning with the Fines Paid database, reading history, and various other error messages.  The databases have since been repaired and the problems should be fixed.

If you continue to experience errors with Millennium, please contact the OWLS office.

Yesterday's server problem

|
Yesterday, the Millennium server went down for a few minutes.  While it came back up immediately, and most things appear to be working correctly, there are still some problems remaining.  We don't know why the server went down and are working with Innovative and Sun/Oracle to troubleshoot the issue.

At the moment, the Fines Paid file is also unavailable.  It's possible there are other problems that we're unaware of, so if things in Millennium are not working correctly today, please send a message to OWLSnethelp.

We'll give you an update as soon as we have more information.

As of Friday, July 1, 2011, music CDs circulate for 14 days

Due dates for current checkouts won't change.  Anything checked out under the 4 week loan rules will keep the original due date.

Questions or comments?  Please let me know!

-Gerri
Music CDs will now circulate for 14 days beginning July 1

How will this be implemented?
  • OWLS staff will change the music loan rules from 4 weeks to 2 weeks.  OWLSnet member library staff will not need to make any changes.
  • Once the changes to the loan rules are complete, music items will automatically be checked out for 2 weeks.  (There are a few music tapes left in the system, and they will also circulate for 14 days.)
  • Due dates for current checkouts won't change.  Anything checked out under the 4 week loan rules will keep the original due date.
  • Short loan Itypes for music will be removed.
Questions or comments?  Please let me know!

Holdshelf problem in Millennium

|
This morning (Wednesday, May 11) there was a problem with the holdshelf.  This resulted in thousands of items "falling off" of the clear holdshelf report.  Innovative installed a fix on our system, and once the Millennium client is restarted, the holdshelf should be working correctly again.
